Cost Manager – Sweden

OVERVIEW

With a broad range of competency and capability, KMCS provide a one-stop shop from concept to completion where clients’ key objectives are successfully delivered upon. KMCS services include: Project Management, Cost Consultancy, Mechanical & Electrical Cost Management and Consultancy Services.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Cost Manager to join our busy Mission Critical Team serving clients in Ireland and across Europe. The successful candidate will initially support our team currently delivering a hyperscale data center in Sweden for a US Multinational Client, reporting to a Senior Cost Manager, and then progress to other locations in Europe.

This is a full-time role with a degree of flexibility appropriate to the project location.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Cost Managers assist the Senior Cost Manager in managing the ‘day to day’ operations of their projects. Duties include:

  • Maintain client relationships
  • Participate in client meetings
  • Contributing to deliverables maintaining high standards
  • Cost Planning
  • Assisting procurement, including managing the pre-qualification stage, produce bid list, bid analysis, produce bid report, and compile contractual documents
  • Ensuring work packages are managed effectively
  • Contributing to monthly post-contract cost reports, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), to present to the client
  • Change management for work packages
  • Negotiating and agreeing variations, value engineering, throughout the project construction phase
  • Negotiating loss and expense claims in relation to extension of time and prolongation, disruption, and acceleration.
  • Preparation of final accounts for work packages
  • Preparing and agreeing monthly payment recommendations for work packages
  • Continual professional development of skills
  • Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to appropriate line manager
  • Cost Managers may also carry out other tasks as and when required.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years relevant QS experience with a global consultancy (preferred)
  • Ability to estimate at conceptual, schematic, and detailed design stages
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS/MSCSI) or committed to working towards
  • Adequate IT skills for the role – MS Office/Cost X

 

QUALIFICATIONS (preferable but not essential)

  • Degree level qualified within Cost Management/Quantity Surveying
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS/MSCSI) or committed to working towards
